Fall Begins

First day of the Fall 09 semester.

Those of you who are new to the web site, be patient. The site is still brand new and needs your support. List your books if you've got them and look for books you need.

Google CSE to the rescue

The site's search is now handled by Google. Searches should yield much higher quality results from here on out.

By the way. If you haven't checked out Google Wave, you should give it a look.

Search Woes

Over the next few weeks I'll be working on fixing some of the limitations of the search engine that runs the book search. It has some trouble doing sub-string searches.

For Example: consider the title 'History 1301/1302'

A search for 1301 currently does not find this title. It's a frustrating limitation and I'm working hard to fix it, but for the time being, take note to put spaces where space is due.

All Quiet on the Textbook Front

Like my literary reference in the title? Things are a bit quiet around here but I expect as much. It's the summer, and not a lot going on in the textbook market. I'm hoping for a small surge in the next 2 weeks as Summer I ends and Summer II begins.

However, despite what happens this summer, the Fall semester should be when the pay dirt arrives. Loads of new freshmen needing College Algebra books and whatnot.

Remember, if you've got books laying around. List them!!!

Summer 1 drawing to a close

As some of you might already know, summer one is nearing its end. What better way to dispose of a book you only used 4 weeks than to get financially raped by selling it back to the book stores. But I think we all might agree rape is sorta bad. So I Instead, list those books for sale here and put more money back in your own pockets.

Also, with a new semester looming some of you with books listed might start seeing some action. Do get those books listed that you have laying around and be sure to spread the word about Lamar Book Trade.

University refuses flier in Student orientation packet

I went by the office in charge of new student orientation on Friday with hopes to get LBT fliers included in the packet new students receive during orientation. I was informed that due to the university's relationship with Barnes & Noble (owners of the Setzer center book store) they would not place the fliers in orientation packets. Looks like money is more important to the university than what may be best for the student

If you are inclined to let this office know how you feel on this matter you can give Ashley Spicer a call at 880-8085 or just drop by room 115 in the Wimberly building.

LAUNCH!!!

After a week of testing for bugs and whatnot LBT is live. I'm handing out fliers and bothering all my friends to list their books and spread the word.

If you happen to be surfing around the site and find something that looks wrong or out of place, you can let me know here
